This Saturday is the Hawaii State Time Trial (individual 40km) over on the Big Island, north of Kona. I've been in Kona 3 times in the past 3 weeks for work, but sadly without my bike. The weather over there today was perfect... Not much VOG (Volcanic Gas), plenty sun, and minimal wind.
Training for the race has been going well, and the watts are definitely up where they need to be to get the job done! Tonight's ride was pretty good and had a few sustained 32mph efforts. I originally planned to do some motorpacing tonight, but those plans got axed. I then planned to latch onto the Cambio ride but missed it, and later found out that was a blessing in disguise. My good friend Ed K. was on the ride and ended up on the asphalt thanks to some surfers crossing between stationary traffic / bike lane. No broken bones, but a trashed bike. Glad he didn't sustain any serious injuries - Heal up!
Tires are glued, new team clothing is scheduled to arrive on Friday, and I've got a couple TT equipment modifications in the works for Saturday. All will be revealed in due course!
