    Update...

Between riding my bike between home and work, working, and trying to keep up with the other daily tasks like eating, doing laundry, the blog has been a little neglected. It's time for an update that's more than one paragraph long!

At the end of the 2008 race season I sold my P3C with plans to get one of Cervelo's shiny new P4's. A week after shipping the P3C to its new owner, Cervelo released their P4 to the public for the first time. 1) It's fugly and 2) it's quite a bit more costly than a P3C... but 3) It's supposedly faster! Cycling is 99% about looks so I opted to continue TT'ing on a P3C. The build is almost complete minus a few parts that I'm chasing down... Not that I'm picky, but I just know what I want when it comes to bike kit!

I picked up one of the new 3T Ventus aerobars (-17deg drop) that came in black and red which matches up nicely with the P3C color scheme. The bars are awesome, and to paraphrase a quote from Mr Morikawa... "You could peel potatoes with those!" Yup, they're pretty damn skinny. I don't care for the straight extensions and will be replacing those with Hed carbon "s-bends".

After many years of waiting, Chris King finally put a bottom bracket on sale... All my bikes will be rolling on a CK bottom bracket for '09. If they're only half as good as their headsets, they'll be a keeper.

Other than building up the TT bike, I've been getting in some good miles on the road bike. Not huge miles, and no real specifics other than time in the saddle, but that will all change soon.

This morning I was woken up at about 4am by a crazy mixture of rain and wind... I've trained in some pretty shitty weather, but today was one of those days when I talked myself out of certain death. The Hawaii DOT issued various warnings and advised people to stay at home and off the roads. The drive to town was sketchy enough... I had to jump on the brakes when another oncoming car made a left turn across my path on Kalakaua. Always fun to be sliding towards another vehicle... I think my decision to not train today was a sensible one. There's a first time for everything!
