I spent last night doing the final study for one of my Architect license exams (There are 7 in total), finally commencing shut-eye at 1am. I woke up at 7am, got to work before 8, left work at 1145, made a quick visit to my apartment, then drove over to downtown for my 4+hrs of torture. The exam that I took was "Site Planning and Design", consisting of 65 MC questions and two graphic vignettes. The MC questions were a slight nightmare... I knew the answers to some of the questions instantly, but a few others left me scratching my head and going through the process of elimination / best-guessing... Fun! After the MC I had a 15min break before taking a crack at the graphic section. The first one was Site Grading, and can normally be completed in about 15mins without excessive stress. However, I managed to grade my site backwards, had a minor freak-out, clicked "start over", then whipped up what I think is a passing solution. Scary. That mistake ate up some of the remaining time that I had left for the Site Design vignette... I only did one practice vignette for this and it wasn't too difficult, but the actual exam was a lot harder. My site was a minefield of trees, and the program only allowed me to remove 8 if those (My final solution took the axe to 7 trees). This caused some stress and had me tweaking, checking, refining, and double-checking my solution until the final seconds of exam time. Scary, but I think I nailed it... Fingers crossed!
Next exam for me will be Schematic Design on Jan 2nd... For now, I need at least a day not studying as my brain is fried badly...
