This afternoon I decided to remove the Campy parts from my Cervelo R3SL and throw the Dura-Ace on it. The result was a mix of good and bad. I knew there was a hairline crack in my Zipp SLC handlebar from my crack back in August, but it was on the drops. I ride on the hoods a lot so I wasn't too worried about replacing the bar so soon. Well, I guess the bar was in worse condition that I had originally thought...

Yup, a nice crack around most of the bar where the right shifter used to be!
So, the bad is that 1) I couldn't train as no bike shops were open on Jan 1, and 2) I have to buy a new bar, although there's a 5-year crash replacement on Zipp bars. The good part is that the bar didn't snap while I was hurtling down a hill at 50mph.

Mike,
That crack is nasty looking Sierra-Hotel-India-Tango.
Proves how strong carbon-fiber can be. With a crack like that, and still hold up with the wattage you pounded into it.
Pretty amazing.
Peace,
James
