It’s been a pretty damn long journey, with lots of paperwork, interviews, money, and stress, but I’m finally in the home stretch to becoming a US Citizen. Last Tuesday I had my Naturalization interview with USCIS which basically lets them check that I can read and write English, and that I have sufficient knowledge of the US Government. They can pick any question out of a possible 100 provided in a booklet in advance and you need to get 6 right. Fortunately, I got 6 right! The interview ended with the immigration officer telling me I’d passed, but they couldn’t make a decision (approve / deny) on my application as my file needed further review. That was quite frustrating… They have 120 days from the interview to figure out if they like you or not.

Today I got home from work only to receive a letter notifying me of my oath ceremony date. Approved!!!
