Last Saturday (July 7) was the Hawaii BMX State Championship qualifier race #1. The past few weekends I’ve been riding 80+ miles in the morning before racing at the BMX track. Great for fitness but not the best combination for quality racing on the BMX track. This weekend I decided to get in a training ride on Friday, then sleep longer on Saturday and focus on the BMX racing. That plan seemed to work out well as I won the first moto which meant I could skip the second moto and go straight to the main. I won the main comfortably which is my 5th win of the season. 3 more wins and I can upgrade out of Novice to Intermediate. Once I’m in Intermediate, I need 25 wins to get into Expert. That will be not be a walk in the park!
